I know I do and saying that it\u2019s annoying is an understatement. But thanks to modern photo editors, we have the ability to add layers to our photos so we can edit each element individually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ability to add layers to your photos is very useful as it gives you more control over your designs. Many professional photographers wouldn\u2019t be able to make stunning visuals without this life-saving feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learning how to add and use layers is crucial to being a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digitalphotomentor.com\/become-photo-editing-master\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">good photo editor<\/a>. You can also move these layers behind or in front of each other for more control over the placement of your design elements. Finally, you can even add effects for existing layers using <strong>adjustment layers<\/strong> or <strong>effects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Use Layers in BunnyPic<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>BunnyPic is a free online photo editor with similar tools to Photoshop. When using layers in BunnyPic it is important to know what features are available to you. Here are some of the ways you can use layers in your design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Copy layers<\/strong> \u2013 You can copy layers by going to Layer &gt; Duplicate layer or press CTRL + J<\/li><li><strong>Hide\/show layer <\/strong>\u2013 Clicking on the eye icon besides a layer can hide it or reveal the layer.<\/li><li><strong>Rearrange layers <\/strong>\u2013 You can bring layers to front and back by clicking and dragging them on top or bottom of each other.<\/li><li><strong>Add effects to your layer <\/strong>\u2013 Once you\u2019ve created a layer, you can add effects to it by clicking on <strong>Layer style<\/strong> at the bottom of the Layers panel or use adjustment layers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you have a general understanding of layers and what they are let\u2019s get into how to use them in an actual project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Open a New Document<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First, we\u2019ll go to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/editor\/\">BunnyPic editor<\/a><\/strong> and create a new document by clicking <strong>New Project<\/strong>. Open your Image<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>With our document in place, open and place your image into the document by going to<strong> File &gt; Open and Place<\/strong> and selecting your image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"539\" src=\"https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-3-2.png\" alt=\"image of elon musk on white background\" class=\"wp-image-1128\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-3-2.png 1024w, https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-3-2-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-3-2-768x404.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>You will notice that the image is automatically placed on a new layer with the image name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Create a Background Layer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our background is a plain and boring white color. Add Text Layers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, we\u2019ll add some text to our image. If we wanted we could just place our text as it is and save the file. However, by using layers for different types of text (headings, body, etc.) we have more control over how our text looks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1023\" height=\"541\" src=\"https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-6-2.png\" alt=\"adding text layers to magazine cover\" class=\"wp-image-1132\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-6-2.png 1023w, https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-6-2-300x159.png 300w, https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-6-2-768x406.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1023px) 100vw, 1023px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Be sure to name your text layers appropriately. This will help in making changes to the layers and also let you know which layer controls what element.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"254\" height=\"395\" src=\"https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-7-1.png\" alt=\"naming text layers appropriately\" class=\"wp-image-1133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-7-1.png 254w, https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-7-1-193x300.png 193w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 254px) 100vw, 254px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see our design is filled with text but it looks very messy. So, let\u2019s dive into manipulating the text layers to create cool effects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Manipulate the Text Layers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our text is overlapping our main image so we can reorder and arrange our layers so that the image stays clear and the text is placed properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1025\" height=\"536\" src=\"https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-8-3.png\" alt=\"moving text behind main image\" class=\"wp-image-1134\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-8-3.png 1025w, https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-8-3-300x157.png 300w, https:\/\/bunnypic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/step-8-3-768x402.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1025px) 100vw, 1025px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Now the subtitle text that was overlapping the face of our main subject has been resolved. I moved the layer below the image so that it hides behind it. I also toned down the opacity to 80% so the text gets a nice fading effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Save your Image<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, we are all done and now just have to save our image. To save your image, go to <strong>File &gt; Export As &gt; PNG or JPG<\/strong>.
